Getting to Crete
Arriving in Crete by plane
Crete is served by 2 airports
In July there are some direct international flights to both Heraklion and Chania.

If you are flying from a Greek city to either Heraklion or Chania Airport, there are three airlines with (several) daily flights.
Arriving in Crete by ferryboat
From Athens you have the option to reach Crete (Heraklion or Chania) by ferryboat. The ferries to Crete leave from the port of Piraeus. To get to Piraeus from the airport of Athens, you have the option to:

Getting to Rethymnon from the Heraklion or Chania airports
From Heraklion airport: distance to Rethymnon about 82 km

From Chania airport: distance to Rethymnon about 68 km
PLEASE NOTE that the last intercity buses from the Heraklion and Chania central bus stations (KTEL) to the Rethymnon bus station leave at 22:45 and 00:00 respectively.

Getting to the University Campus
The Gallos University Campus is located about 5 km from the Rethymnon town center.
Bus No.10 runs every hour from downtown to the University, and the bus route takes approx. 15-25 minutes. Ticket price: 1,30€

The taxi fare to and from downtown is approx. 7-8€ (daytime fare). Taxi ride/fare can be shared among four people. You may want to share a cab with other students from your dorm and then the cost of the taxi per person is not much higher than the bus ticket.

Getting to the Faculty of Letters & the Department of Philology from downtown

The bus leaves you at the main entrance of the campus.
A taxi can drop you off at the Department of Philology.
